Kudos acknowledges and pays respect to the Gadigal and Bidjigal people of the Eora nation. They are the traditional custodians of the land Kudos operates on. We create, design, share, and exchange our work and knowledge on this important meeting place. We pay our respects to elders past and present and extend that respect to any First Nations people who engage with Kudos. This is and always will be Aboriginal land.

AboutResources

Illana Lapid
Ilana Lapid is an artist based on Dharug country whose work challenges value systems and hierarchies of materials through processes of collection, care and installation. She works with found objects, collage and mosaic and has a foundation in painting and drawing. To her, the residues and material chaos of the world can be a place sparking wonder and humour, deserving of time and attention. At the crux of her practice is the principle that nothing should be wasted and that everything has potential.

lots of love and stuff like that

lots of love and stuff like that, 2026, found gift cards and detritus, dimensions variable.

My collection, 'lots of love', is made from cut outs of found greeting cards. These cut outs isolate the words of endearment like, ‘love’, ‘lots of love’, ‘love always’, ‘my love’, ‘beautiful’ etc. I transformed these neglected words of love and re-instilled with sentimental value into a wall of expanded poetry, redirecting these once private words to a public love letter. I am interested in cycles of value and the ways that sentimental value can be reinstilled through recontextualisation. The pieces of detritus contaminate the work and hint at the reality that they were found objects, from the street rather than letters from personal archives. This collection makes me wonder about the people who the letters were addressed to and what happened to them, and the idea of love never going to waste even when a moment or chapter has passed or ends. Love doesn’t disappear, it waits and comes back around.
